lack of posts

Life has been busy and I've been lazy hence my current lack or posts on the ol' blog. I had formal last weekend than recovery from formal this week (at school.. not fun) and now I'm on my 5 day Easter break which isn't much of a break as it is mainly consisting of paid work and school work. I like being busy as it's the best way to keep your head away from pointless over-thinking which I am a trained professional at. I said a while ago on this blog how I wanted to find some sort of beauty every day in life, I don't know if I've really stuck to the whole "every day" thing but I do now and then spot something interesting and then remember that resolution and feel relatively fulfilled and successful. Today I met a fine lady called Mavis when I was working at the local video store who is an elderly woman that comes into the store 3 or 4 times a week. She catches a cab in as she can no longer drive and spends an hour to an hour and a half picking a new selection of ten to fifteen slayer/horror/thriller/gore/anything involving extreme violence movies. She is a lovely old lady and as she was browsing the store with her coke in hand I struggled to understand why she loves slayer movies so much. It certainly is an interesting predicament. I then thought- why the hell shouldn't she love and watch gory horror movies! I too love horror movies and I don't know why I would discontinue to watch them in my later years in life. Thanks Mavis for making my day in smiles and amusement.

Hope everyone enjoys their chocolate.

rollerskate derby

This week has been up down, tipsy turby, side to side. Having a stupid head cold is most certainly a down point and due to that I couldn't attend school yesterday and today (arguably an up point). After going to see the Doc yesterday, Mum and I drove over to the Valley to check out a vintage boutique there, in hope of finding a possible formal dress. There was no formal dress but there was a fun filled suitcase of $5 delicacies. I got this one shirt that had "Rollerskate Derby 78" in cursive print on the back of the shirt. Due to that I was talking to the shop assistant about rollerskate derbies and the like. She then told me that down at Beenleigh once a month they have derbies!! So next month I will be attending a derby in 70s/80s get up. I am actually considering taking a class and trying out for a team! Here's photos from the fantastic movie "Whip It" with the always lovely Ellen Page.

countdown

As holidays nears to a close I'm trying to squeeze in as much responsibility free times as possible. Yesterday I went over a friends house for a pool party and then had a lovely girly night in with Holls. We watched 'The Girl Next Door' and 'The Animal Kingdom'. Two extremely different movies but both were great in different ways. Today I went into the Valley with the boys and Holl and Belle to go gaming. After a few hours of zombie killin' we headed back to home base. Then in the night Marty, Kris and I went over to Mitch's house for a swim which kinda failed due to an epic storm so we just watched Starwars instead :D This weekend is Big Day Out which I'm looking forward to but then unfortunately it's back to school. Only one year to go!

day-to-day dreariness

I'm working 5 days in a row this week and dealing with old grumpy people is really starting to wear off my always-happy-work-face. It'd be so sweet if someone came in and actually just had a good ol' chat to me while I make the coffee because it gets seriously lonely behind that machine.. At least I only worked the afternoon today so I went with mum to the Sandgate op shops which generously gave me plenty of goodies at cheap prices. Sandgate is a very cute town and for some reason I always imagined it to be industrial but it wasn't so.. that was good? Mitch and Marty are coming over now to watch horror movies in this rainy mysterious weather so I best be off. I hope everyone is reading a tone of books and watching so many movies that you are daily visiting megavideo or video ezy. Goodnight my virtual friends and family.
